Mark Twain once said, "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what your know for sure that just ain't so".
Most people in life would say they don't like liars. Most people would also say they don't lie or at least don't lie a lot. But what most people fail to realize is that there are many lies embedded in our minds and hearts, These lies often make up many negative and destructive aspects of our life.
So you ask, how do I find the lies in my own life?
Very easy, but it takes a lot of honesty and pulling down of our pride. See most people don't like being proven wrong. Our own pride gets in the way of the truth.
So Pastor, where do I start?
Its best to seek out the lies with a person who cares and loves you unconditionally. This could be done with your spouse , family member or Pastor. But the most important person you need there is the the Holy Spirit. See, who best to find the truth with then the Spirit of truth. God himself.
I'm going to outline the process. Though to really be free, you need to meet in person with an experience minister.
1st Step. Follow the anger- Anger is the main symptom of a strong lie. When was the last time you got angry?
2nd Step. Honesty. Here is where you have to ask yourself why did you get angry. I mean where did the root cause of your anger come from (clue, its not a person but an experience).
3rd Step. Call out the Lie. Maybe the past experience made you feel like you weren't important and that no one loves you. The lie would then be," no ones loves you".
4th Step. Replace the lie with the truth. If the lie is no one lives you, then the truth is, God loves you.
5th Step. Ask God for forgiveness, by giving more importance to the opinions of people we made them an Idol. Ask God to forgive you for making their opinion of you greater then his.
